AB 1011: Crimes: child abuse and neglect: sentence credits.

This bill, known as Ryla's Law, aims to prevent child abusers from earning credits for good behavior or participating in rehabilitative programs while incarcerated. It would make inmates who are convicted of specific child abuse crimes ineligible to earn credits for serving as inmate firefighters or completing inmate firefighting training. This would reduce the amount of credits an inmate sentenced to county jail can earn, creating a state-mandated local program. The bill also eliminates the requirement for reimbursement by the state for certain costs associated with implementing this program.
