AB 1192: Child abuse or neglect: reporting.

This bill amends the child abuse and neglect reporting act to expand the reporting requirements. Mandated reporters, such as health practitioners and social workers, must report suspected child abuse or neglect to a local law enforcement agency or a county welfare or probation department. Employees of these agencies must send a copy of the report to the attorney representing the child within 36 hours. The bill also requires employees to send a copy of the report to the attorney representing a parent or legal guardian of the child, with certain exceptions. Personal identifying information will be redacted from the report, except for the child. If the suspected abuse or neglect occurred in a placement, employees must send a copy of the report to attorneys representing children with open dependency cases in that placement.
