What AB 129 does, verified December 7, 2025

This bill amends the government code to include state officers appointed to career executive assignments in the definition of "employee" for disability benefits. The bill also makes changes to the public employees' retirement law, appropriating $584 million to supplement the state's contribution to the public employees' retirement fund and directing the funds to specific state employee member categories. Additionally, the bill makes technical changes to the assessment provisions of the labor code, and subjects the work performed on the Golden Gate Bridge seismic retrofit project to the division's lead standard regulations. The bill also provides for the use of $3.3 million for statewide collective bargaining for in-home supportive services providers, but only if certain conditions are met. The bill takes effect immediately.
