AB 1293: Workers’ compensation: qualified medical evaluators.

California · Assembly · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified December 13, 2025

What AB 1293 does, verified December 13, 2025

The proposed law aims to improve the workers' compensation system by enhancing the use of qualified medical evaluators (QMEs). The Administrative Director is required to develop and make available a medical evaluation request form for communicating with QMEs in advance of an evaluation. Additionally, a template QME report form must be created to include all necessary statutory and regulatory requirements. The Division of Workers' Compensation must adopt regulations to implement these provisions by January 1, 2027.
