AB 1355: Location privacy.

This bill aims to protect individuals' location information by prohibiting covered entities from collecting or processing it unless necessary to provide requested goods or services. Covered entities must display a notice stating that location information is being collected, provide a phone number and website for more information, and maintain a location privacy policy. Violations can result in actual or statutory damages, as well as other relief. State and local agencies are prohibited from monetizing location information, and if the bill contains mandated state costs, reimbursement will be made according to statutory procedures. The bill's provisions further the purposes and intent of the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020.
