AB 1450: California Children’s Services Program: providers.

The bill aims to expand the California Children's Services (CCS) program by authorizing the state to approve advanced practice providers, such as nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and certified registered nurses, to provide care to medically necessary services required by physically handicapped children. These providers will be able to request to be CCS paneled and will be authorized to perform initial or continuing care without the need for cosignature for certain professional services. The bill also allows eligible providers to bill Medi-Cal directly for independent office and inpatient visits. Additionally, the bill expands the definition of a provider to include physician certified by their respective specialty board, excluding cases where treatment may be delegated to a family physician and advanced practice providers who meet specific criteria.
