AB 1501: Physician assistants and podiatrists.

This bill aims to extend the operation of the podiatric medical board and the physician assistant board until January 1, 2030. The board's regulation of physician assistant training programs would be removed. A physician assistant licensed by the board would be allowed to supervise up to 8 physician assistants at any one time, without exceptions. The bill would also make it a misdemeanor to use the term "podiatric surgeon" without holding a valid license, and would classify a doctor of podiatric medicine as a doctor of podiatric medicine, rather than an ancillary provider. The bill would increase the biennial renewal fee for a certificate to practice podiatric medicine to $1,900, and establish a $100 fee for a duplicate certificate.
