AB 1502: Veterinary medicine: California Veterinary Medical Board.
This bill aims to amend the veterinary medicine practice act to extend the existence of the California Veterinary Medical Board until January 1, 2030. The board's membership will be expanded to include an additional registered veterinary technician member, and at least one licensed veterinarian member will be required to practice in equine or livestock care. The bill expands the qualifications for registration as a veterinary technician to include graduation from a veterinary college recognized by the board, and requires applicants to submit fingerprints for a criminal history record check. It also requires veterinarians to provide a copy of an animal's written record to the owner upon request, and to communicate information to facilitate continuity of care if the record is not available.
