AB 1601: County employees’ retirement: cost-of-living adjustments.
The bill aims to add a new section to the Government Code, relating to public employees' retirement. It would permit the county board of supervisors to authorize cost-of-living adjustments to retirement allowances, optional death allowances, or annual death allowances payable to eligible members. Before authorizing a cost-of-living adjustment, the county board must collaborate with the retirement board to identify eligible recipients, determine the amount of the adjustment, and identify the funding source. The bill also makes legislative findings and declarations regarding the necessity of a special statute for Sonoma County.
