AB 1629: Dental coverage.

The bill aims to improve dental coverage in California by requiring health care service plans and health insurers to pay noncontracting dental providers directly for covered services. It would also require plans and insurers to notify enrollees or insureds that they are being paid and that the out-of-network cost may count towards their annual or lifetime maximum. Additionally, noncontracting dental providers would be required to make specified disclosures to enrollees or insureds before accepting assignments of benefits. The bill would also review the adequacy of entire dental provider networks, including those serving plans and insurers not regulated by the respective department.
