AB 1658: Local Agency Public Construction Act: change orders: County of Los Angeles: County of Santa Clara.

This bill amends and repeals certain sections of the Public Contract Code to regulate contracting by local agencies, including counties and special districts. The bill extends the provisions for change orders in contracts for county highways, bridges, subways, waterworks districts, and the Los Angeles County Flood Control District indefinitely. It also eliminates the requirement for the counties of Los Angeles and Santa Clara to modify no more than 7 contracts and provide a review report to the Assembly Committee on Local Government and the Senate Committee on Governance and Finance. The bill makes legislative findings and declarations regarding the necessity of a special statute for the counties of Los Angeles and Santa Clara.
