AB 1767: Department of Consumer Affairs: public members of boards: conflicts of interest.
This bill aims to amend the Business and Professions Code to clarify the definition of "close family member" for public members of boards within the Department of Consumer Affairs. A "close family member" is defined as a parent, stepparent, sibling, child by blood, adoption, or marriage, spouse, domestic partner, cohabitant, stepchild, immediate in-law, aunt, uncle, first cousin, grandparent, or grandchild. This change will help ensure that public members of boards can maintain a clear distinction between their personal and professional relationships, reducing conflicts of interest.
