The bill authorizes the county of Los Angeles to levy a transactions and use tax at a rate not to exceed 0.5% for general and special purposes. This tax is subject to voter approval and will be in effect until December 31, 2031. The county is allowed to exceed the 2% limit set by the transactions and use tax law.
