What AB 1968 does, verified April 30, 2026

The bill amends the welfare and institutions code to allow for the transfer of juveniles to a court of criminal jurisdiction in cases where the juvenile is alleged to have committed certain serious offenses. This transfer is allowed for minors who were 16 years of age or older at the time of the alleged offense, or for minors who were 14 or 15 years of age at the time of the alleged offense in cases involving specified serious offenses. The bill also adds conspiracy to commit murder as an offense for which a juvenile may be transferred to a court of criminal jurisdiction.
