This bill aims to reduce wildfire risks by implementing fuel reduction activities on public lands. It requires the department or local entity responsible for preventing and suppressing fires to conduct assessments of undeveloped public lands every two years, starting in 2028. The assessments must be posted online and submitted to the department. Public lands must also have 200-foot firebreaks on all borders with private property by January 1, 2028. When acquiring private undeveloped land, the department or local entity must create a plan for fire prevention and management, and report the cost of keeping the land managed. This information must be posted online and submitted to the department. Property owners can conduct wildfire fuel reduction activities on their private property if they follow specified guidelines, established by the county fire chief.
