AB 2153: Voter registration: residency confirmation.

California · Assembly · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified August 22, 2026

What AB 2153 does, verified August 22, 2026

This bill repeals an outdated requirement for county elections officials to update a voter's registration record if a voter's address has changed due to a move within the state. It also repeals another requirement that changes a voter's registration status to inactive if mailings have been returned as undeliverable or if other sources of information indicate the voter has moved out of state. The goal of this bill is to simplify voter registration processes.
