AB 2281: Office of Elections Cybersecurity.
<p>The bill aims to enhance the state's election cybersecurity efforts. It establishes the Office of Elections Cybersecurity within the Secretary of State's office to coordinate with local elections officials and federal, state, and local agencies to reduce the likelihood and severity of cyber incidents. The office will develop best practices for protecting against threats to election cybersecurity, including consulting with private organizations and academic researchers.</p> <p>The bill also requires the office to assess whether additional state resources are needed to replace election cybersecurity resources previously provided by the federal government.</p>
