AB 229: Criminal procedure: Sexually transmitted disease testing.

This bill would allow a search warrant to test a defendant for any sexually transmitted disease. The test results can be used to inform the victim about their health. The bill would also allow the victim's parent or guardian, or the victim's legal representative, to receive and disclose test results. The test is only allowed if the defendant has been charged with a specified sex crime. The list of sex crimes would include engaging in sex with a child under 10 years old and sex with a person confined to a health facility or detention facility. The state would not be required to reimburse local agencies or school districts for the costs of implementing this law.
