<p>This bill would allow a person who has been the victim of false imprisonment or false arrest to choose to receive a one-time payment of $10,000 for each act committed by the defendant. The defendant would be jointly and severally liable for the amount, with a maximum aggregate award of $250,000 per incident. This bill would also exempt certain parties from the payment provisions.</p>
