AB 247: Incarcerated individual hand crew members: wages.

This bill aims to amend the penal code and welfare and institutions code to provide better compensation for inmates and youth who participate in wildland firefighting. Inmates who are assigned to fire incidents will receive an hourly wage of $7.25, which will be reviewed annually. This wage will be in addition to any credits they earn for participating in rehabilitative programs. The bill also establishes an administrative adjudication and remedy process for any disputes over wages. The bill takes effect immediately, making it an urgency statute.
