AB 2530: Employment: Cal/WARN Act: plant closings and mass layoffs.

The California Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (Cal/WARN) Act requires employers with 75 or more employees to provide 60 days' written notice before ordering a mass layoff, relocation, or termination. The proposed bill amends the act by including public agencies under its definition of "employer" and "covered establishment." Additionally, it clarifies responsibility for providing notice in cases where an employer sells part or all of their business: the seller is responsible up to the sale's effective date, while the purchaser is responsible afterward.
