AB 2729: Medi-Cal: Employer Responsibility for Medi-Cal Trust Fund.

The proposed Medi-Cal program would require employers to contribute to a trust fund to support the Medi-Cal program. This contribution would include new taxes and employer penalties. The fund would be used to cover the costs of administering the Medi-Cal program, including preventing loss of health care coverage or benefits. The provisions of the bill would only take effect if the Medicaid provisions of a federal law are not repealed before January 1, 2027. The fund would be continuously appropriated to the state department of health care services.
