The bill amends existing laws regarding court reporters in California. It allows applicants for a license to satisfy the dictation/transcription portion of their examination by completing the Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) certification, in addition to the Certified Verbatim Reporter (CVR) or CVR-stenotype certifications. Additionally, the bill extends the duration of pilot projects that study remote court reporting. These projects will now terminate no later than July 1, 2028, and the provisions related to these pilots will be repealed on January 1, 2029.
