AB 322: Precise geolocation information.

This bill aims to strengthen the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 by adding a new requirement for businesses that collect precise geolocation information. When collecting this type of information, businesses must display a prominent notice to the consumer stating the purpose of the collection and how the information will be used. The notice must include the goods or services requested by the consumer and a description of how the information will be processed to carry out those purposes. The bill also prohibits businesses from retaining precise geolocation information longer than necessary to provide the requested goods or services, or longer than one year after the consumer's last intentional interaction with the business, whichever is earlier. This new requirement is intended to further the purposes and intent of the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020.
