This bill amends the existing law regarding criminal threats. The existing law makes it a crime to willfully threaten to commit a crime that will result in death or great bodily injury to another person, causing them to fear for their safety. The bill allows courts to consider the victim's status as a constitutional officer, legislator, or judge when determining the severity of the sentence for a felony violation of this law.
