AB 383: Firearms: prohibition: minors.

This bill would amend the law regarding firearms to make it a crime for minors to own, possess, or have control of a firearm until they are 30 years old. It would expand the scope of a crime and impose a state-mandated local program, requiring local probation departments and law enforcement agencies to investigate and report any instances of prohibited minors possessing firearms. The bill would also allow search warrants to be issued to seize firearms from minors who have failed to relinquish them, as required by law. Additionally, the bill would declare its provisions are severable, and would provide that reimbursement is not required for certain mandates, with reimbursement made for other costs mandated by the state.
