AB 451: Law enforcement policies: restraining orders.
This law requires law enforcement agencies to develop and implement policies for serving court protection and restraining orders, including firearm access restrictions. These policies must include a standard process for serving orders against restrained individuals in a timely manner and ensure compliance with state law. The policies must also ensure safe, consistent, and effective service, implementation, and enforcement of these orders. The law also requires reimbursement for costs mandated by the state if the Commission on State Mandates determines that the law contains such costs.
