AB 621: Deepfake pornography.
This bill aims to amend existing laws related to deepfake pornography. It grants a depicted individual a cause of action against a person who creates and intentionally discloses sexually explicit material without consent, including if the depicted individual was a minor at the time of creation. The bill defines "digitized sexually explicit material" as any portion of a visual or audiovisual work created or substantially altered through digitization that shows the depicted individual in a nude or engaging in sexual conduct. The bill also grants a cause of action to a depicted individual against a person who knowingly facilitates or recklessly aids or abets conduct prohibited by the law.
