AB 649: Disability access: construction-related accessibility claim.
The bill aims to modify the law related to disability access in California. It would allow defendants who have received a certified access specialist inspection, corrected all noted construction-related violations, and done so within a 10-year period, to have an additional 120 days to correct any alleged violations in a construction-related accessibility claim. During this 10-year period, defendants would be eligible to recover reasonable attorney's fees and other costs from the plaintiff if they can demonstrate that the inspection and correction of violations occurred before the plaintiff filed the claim.
