AB 66: California Environmental Quality Act: exemption: egress route projects: fire safety.
This bill would exempt certain egress route projects from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) until January 1, 2032. These projects are undertaken by public agencies to improve emergency access to and evacuation from a subdivision without a secondary egress route. The exemption applies if the state board of forestry and fire protection recommends the creation of a secondary access to the subdivision. The lead agency must hold a public meeting to hear comments before determining the exemption. If the project is approved or carried out, the agency must file a notice of exemption with the Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation and the county clerk.
