AB 675: Office of Farm to Fork: California Farm to School Program.
The bill establishes the California Farm to School Program to promote food equity, education, and sustainability in the school food system. The program aims to increase the procurement of California-grown, whole, or minimally processed foods for school meal programs. It also seeks to enhance hands-on food education opportunities for students, connecting the classroom with the cafeteria. The program will advance the California Farm to School Network and improve the nutritional profile of school-provided foods. The program will be funded through a combination of federal, state, industry, philanthropic, and private sources, and will be administered by the Office of Farm to Fork within the Department of Food and Agriculture.
