What AB 761 does, verified December 13, 2025

This bill aims to amend the public utilities code and the revenue and taxation code. It would prohibit the submission of a measure for the imposition of a sales or special tax to the voters of the district under a certain authority on or after January 1, 2026. However, it would allow the district to submit a measure proposing a retail transactions and use tax ordinance to the voters. The district would also be authorized to impose a transactions and use tax for the support of its transportation services at a rate of no more than 0.25% if the ordinance is approved by the voters before January 1, 2035.
