California · Assembly · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified December 7, 2025

What AB 772 does, verified December 7, 2025

This bill aims to address cyberbullying outside of school hours and on campus. The state education department must develop a model policy on how to handle such incidents by June 30, 2026. Local educational agencies must adopt a policy by July 1, 2027, which can be either the model policy or a locally created policy with input from stakeholders. The adopted policy must be posted on the agency's and school's website. The state will reimburse local agencies for costs associated with implementing this bill if the commission on state mandates determines that the bill contains mandated costs.
