What AB 775 does, verified August 25, 2026

The bill would amend the Government Code to require elected officials and members of the Public Utilities Commission to report behested payments more frequently, specifically within 30 days of the end of each calendar quarter if the payment exceeds $5,000 from the same source in the same year. Subsequent payments equaling or exceeding $1,000 in aggregate must be reported within 30 days after the end of each quarter. The report would also require a brief description of any relationship between the payee and the behesting officer or their family members, as well as any proceeding before the behesting officer. The bill would also allow for good-faith estimates to be submitted if certain conditions are met.
