AB 785: Community Violence Interdiction Grant Program.

The proposed legislation creates a community violence interdiction grant program to address violence in neighborhoods and schools. The program will provide funding to local community programs for initiatives such as recreation- and health-based interventions for youth, creation and operation of school-based health centers, and other community-driven solutions. The program will be administered by the California Health and Human Services Agency and will require the development of an application process and criteria for funding. The program's goals are to reduce violence and promote the health and well-being of youth. The program's funding will be made available upon appropriation by the legislature, and the state will transfer savings from the closure of state prisons to the program's grant fund.
