This bill would exempt county nonpartisan office candidates from the majority vote provision at primary elections. The top two candidates who received the most and second-most votes would be placed on the ballot at the general election. The bill would impose new duties on county elections officials and establish a state-mandated local program. If the commission on state mandates determines that the bill contains costs mandated by the state, the state would reimburse counties for those costs.
