AB 970: Child abuse and neglect reporting.

The bill proposes a 2-year pilot program to test a new model for mandatory child abuse and neglect reporting in the county of Los Angeles. The program would include comprehensive mandated reporter training and the development of an internet-based decision-support tool. The tool would make a recommendation on whether to report suspected abuse or neglect and prohibit predictive analysis. Mandated reporters who complete the training and use the tool would be deemed to have satisfied their reporting duties, shielding them from civil liability and penalties. The pilot program would run until January 1, 2030.
