SB 1179: Doctors from El Salvador Program.
<p>The Doctors from El Salvador Program is established under California law to allow licensed physicians from El Salvador to practice medicine in California for up to three years. The program requires consultation with community health clinics and universities in El Salvador, recruitment and vetting of candidates, and assistance for them to meet all requirements. Physicians must be licensed, certified, or recertified and in good standing in their medical specialty in El Salvador.</p> <p>The Medical Board of California issues nonrenewable three-year licenses to eligible physicians who will practice exclusively at the nonprofit community health center that offered employment and its corresponding hospital.
