SB 1220: Firearms: prohibited persons.

This bill would amend the law to make it a felony for anyone convicted of certain misdemeanors to own or possess a firearm within 10 years of the conviction. The law would also make it a crime to alter or remove the maker's mark or other identifying information from a firearm. The bill would take effect on January 1, 2027, and would require no reimbursement from the state for the costs associated with implementing the law. This law change would create a state-mandated local program to enforce the new regulations.
