SB 137: State government.
This bill amends several California laws to enhance state government operations and improve consumer privacy protection. The Consumer Privacy Fund is revised to create three subfunds: the Consumer Privacy Subfund, the Attorney General Consumer Privacy Enforcement Subfund, and the Consumer Privacy Grant Subfund. These subfunds will be used to enforce the Consumer Privacy Act, administer grants, and promote consumer privacy protection. The bill also changes fees paid to the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation, requires electronic submission of reports, and authorizes the sale or lease of excess state real property. Additionally, the bill exempts the employment of outside counsel for certain purposes related to civil discovery and allows state agencies to request legal representation from the Attorney General for any purpose.
