<p>The bill reinstates a fire prevention fee for habitable structures within state responsibility areas in California, effective January 1, 2027. The fee, which can be adjusted annually up to $150 per structure, is intended to fund fire prevention activities that benefit the owners of these structures. Collected funds are deposited into the State Responsibility Area Fire Prevention Fund and used by the state board of forestry and fire protection and the department of forestry and fire protection for specified fire prevention efforts.</p>
