SB 149: Public resources trailer bill.
This bill expands the scope of provisions relating to invasive mussels in California waterways. It would apply the existing provisions to any nonnative detrimental mussel species, rather than just dreissenid mussels. The bill would require the department to review all approved plans for invasive mussel infestation prevention and update or revise those plans that do not address all invasive mussel species present in the state. The bill would also apply the existing provisions for vessel registration and fees to invasive mussels, renaming the quagga and zebra mussel infestation prevention sticker to the invasive mussel infestation prevention sticker. Additionally, the bill would increase the fee for invasive mussel infestation prevention stickers and require the fee to be adjusted for inflation.
