What SB 336 does, verified February 3, 2026

This bill would provide a partial welfare exemption for certain residential rental property used for low- and moderate-income households. The exemption would be equal to the percentage of the property value that corresponds to the percentage of units serving low- and moderate-income households out of the total number of residential units. The owner would be required to make specified certifications under penalty of perjury about the use of the property. This bill would impose a state-mandated local program by expanding the duties of local tax officials and the crime of perjury. The provisions of the bill are declared to be severable.
