SB 396: Corrections: supervision.

This bill would prohibit a supervision authority from imposing a condition of supervision that prevents a person on supervision from being in contact with any family member. However, the authority can prohibit contact if the family member is a victim of the crime and it is deemed necessary for public safety. The supervision authority must provide a written explanation for the decision. The bill would also exclude courts from the definition of a supervision authority, and it would require the state to reimburse local agencies and school districts for any mandated costs. The commission on state mandates would determine if the bill contains mandated costs and would make reimbursement accordingly.
