SB 559: Electricity: deenergization events: communications.

This bill requires electrical corporations to prepare and submit wildfire mitigation plans that include protocols for deenergizing portions of their electrical distribution system to minimize public safety impacts. The plans must include procedures for notifying critical first responders, health care facilities, and telecommunications infrastructure operators. When a deenergization event is planned, the corporation must immediately notify public safety partners about potential impacts. The corporation must also provide regular progress updates to emergency management organizations, public safety officials, customers, and the public on restoration efforts. The corporation must make weather conditions observed within the affected circuit available in advance of a deenergization event.
