SB 709: Self-service storage facilities: rental agreement disclosures.

California · Senate · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified December 6, 2025

What SB 709 does, verified December 6, 2025

This bill requires self-service storage facility rental agreements to include certain disclosures. Starting January 1, 2026, rental agreements must specify whether the rental fee is discounted or promotional, whether the rental fee is subject to change, and the maximum rental fee the owner could charge during the first 12 months following the date of the rental agreement. This is intended to protect tenants by providing them with clear information about their rental agreement.
