SB 71: California Environmental Quality Act: exemptions: transit projects.
The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) exemption for certain transportation-related projects will be extended indefinitely. This exemption includes active transportation plans, pedestrian plans, and bicycle transportation plans for street and highway restriping, bicycle parking and storage, and related signage. Additionally, it includes projects related to transit, such as comprehensive operational analyses, route adjustments, and public transit service improvements. Exemptions for transportation projects will be extended until January 1, 2040, for projects related to bus rapid transit, light rail, and microtransit, and until January 1, 2032, for projects related to ferry services.
