SB 826: California Workforce Development Board: port automation.
The bill aims to mitigate the employment impacts of automation at California seaports. It reinstates provisions from previous law until January 1, 2029, to determine the best ways to address national security, cybersecurity, workforce, and economic impacts. An industry panel consisting of 17 members will inform the stakeholder process. The Labor and Workforce Development Agency and the California Workforce Development Board will issue findings and recommendations by July 1, 2027.
