SB 831: Geologic hazards: California Geological Survey.

This bill would expand the duties of the department to review and investigate geologic hazards, specifically including those related to climate change. The department's authority to fix a price upon and dispose of publications would be repealed. The state geologist would be required to revise earthquake fault zone maps and provide copies of the official maps within 90 days after the comment period concludes. Reports on mineral material consumption or utilization would be maintained as confidential by the department if appropriately identified as confidential by the submitting entity. The department would collaborate with the state water resources control board and the department of fish and wildlife on fuel reduction projects. The department would also extend the authorization to enter and inspect land to include the survey, under those circumstances.
