SB 925: Fusion energy: State Energy Resources Conservation and Development Commission: strategic plan: certification and environmental review.
The state energy resources conservation and development commission is required to develop a strategic plan for the development of fusion energy in California. The plan must be submitted to the legislature by December 31, 2028, and should include a strategy for expanding and commercializing fusion energy, as well as a regulatory framework for licensing and permitting. The plan should also assess how fusion energy can support California's long-term renewable energy and greenhouse gas emission reduction goals. Additionally, the commission will be required to expand the types of facilities that can be certified as environmental leadership development projects, including fusion energy electrical generating facilities and research and development facilities, upon the submission of the strategic plan.
